Sunday

Several years ago I came across a blog where the mom did pictures every Sunday of her kids. I thought that was such a good idea, but have never put it into practice. Every now and then I'll grab the camera just as we are heading out the door and think of that blog and I tell myself I'm going to do this. It probably will never happen on a consistent basis because no matter how hard we try to get out the door in a happy disposition and on time . . .we are just not that family.

Busy Soccer Weekend

Due to a couple of rainy days the past few weeks we got to cram in 5 games between the two girls this weekend. I really love watching my girls play and they are working really hard on their teams this year. They each scored in their games on Thursday so we got to go to Dairy Queen on the way home for some much earned ice cream. Fortunately, Savannah scored in her game Friday too, so we have indulged in a lot of ice cream this weekend! In Savannah's game Saturday the girls were really burned out after playing back to back and the other team really jumped out ahead of them in the first half. The coach put Savannah in as goalie the second half and she did a good job, but they were never able to catch up. Cardyn's coach also put her in as goalie and she did a great job. I could tell by her coach's comments that she will probably be playing back more often because of how aggressive she was at that position. She was happy! I can tell how hard they are working based on them being more tired at night. Savannah, who is usually up until all hours, has surprised me more often lately by being asleep when I go check on them.

Richard brought this home for me. I REALLY love him!

Daddy's Helper

Richard put Porter's little house together tonight and it was so cute to see him "helping" Daddy build. It has been fun for me to watch how fascinated Porter is with everything Richard is doing. After two girls who like being involved too, I didn't think it would be much different, but I was wrong. If Richard is building a fire, Porter is right up next to him and acts like he is in charge. I'm glad he has such a wonderful father who teaches him and has the patience to let him be underfoot!

She's 7

Today we celebrated Cardyn turning 7. When I tucked her into bed last night I told her "her story" about the night she was born and told her that at 4:00 in the morning, while she slept, she would turn 7. She was induced, but once my labor started she was ready to get here and the doctor had to be called in. That definitely should have told me something about my little firework. Right when she woke up she opened her cards from Aunt Anje's family and Grandpa. Cardyn . . .We love you so much and are so glad you are part of our family! We are celebrating big on Friday with a night out bowling with her friends.



Notice we still haven't bought candles. This is the fourth cake we've taken the numbers we have and made them add up to the right age. I'll have to remind the maid to pick up candles before July!


Birthday dinner of steak, shrimp & rice. No greens because it was just a miracle that dinner got on the table today, but it could also be in honor of the birthday girl who only obliges her mother by eating greens!
