I've got some Dare Devils

Today we spent the day at Six Flags! It is actually our 3rd trip so far for the summer, so we are well under way to use up and wear out our season passes! Richard has been able to come with us the last two times and really, it makes all the difference. My attitude about roller coasters is that it is like something in my past I really don't want to experience again, but not Daddy. The girls love impressing him with who will ride the big coasters. In turn, Richard does not like any rides that get you wet, and I do. I guess we sort of even things out. He did get me to go on a few big coasters this time, thanks in part to having the Johnson's and the Pulsipher's with us who were able to sit with Porter. We love having friends with us!! After getting really hot and sweaty (it is summertime in Georgia) we head over to Skull Island and cool off on the water slides. This gets the kids and to be honest us ready to kick it back up again at the park.

Overheard driving home from the pool tonight . . . I hear the girls excitedly talking about Six Flags tomorrow - trying to get me to commit to the exact time we will be leaving (which this seasoned momma knows better than to do that). Then cute Cardyn says, "Yes! Daddy is coming with us! He is like our Hero at Six Flags!"

Date Night

Richard and I had a date tonight! It has been a very busy couple of weeks, which included stress from work and both our cars needing repaired (+ a speeding ticket for me . . just a rough week). Needless to say we were both very excited. It turned out Richard's parents came up to Atlanta to help his brother out and were kind enough to come down our way to baby sit and then pass off to Stephen later, so we didn't even have to pay for a sitter. We ate at Longhorn's which is one of our favorite steakhouses. I had to laugh a little towards the end of dinner. A very young couple sat next to us and she sat right next to him with her legs over his lap and they shared their food all night and just gazed into the others' eyes. I barely noticed them over gobbling up my salad, and giggled when I realized we were as focused and enjoying our chocolate stampede with as much energy as they were enjoying looking at one another. I remember being like that when we were dating, when you could not get enough of just being near the other person. For just a second I almost said out loud, "why can't we be like that on our date?" . . .but the words never got out of my mouth because I was shoveling in that chocolate, cream, fudge, ice cream goodness and realized that we are just fine the way we are!

We made it through our first full week of Summer! Last weekend we went to Ellijay to spend Friday and Saturday with the Boland's. Richard and Ryan wanted to map out a route on the river to take the kids down. Their little adventure turned out to be a 4 hour excursion that left Jenn and I saying "Should we be worried?" They showed up after dinner and baths for the kids freezing and not the least bit interested in taking the kids down the next day. I think they did figure out a better spot to put in at for future trips. Saturday we got up hoping to get croissants at Ingle's, but they were still proofing. We ended up going to Mercier Orchard's in Blue Ridge. We ate their house specialty of fried apple pies among other flavors and I really liked all their products in their store. The hit of the day was going out to the cherry orchards and picking/eating all we wanted. We all got our fill of cherries and brought home about 8 lbs. I never knew there were so many varieties of cherries!
Monday, was Memorial Day and we tried to go the pool, but Porter got sick so we spent the next few days laying low. The girls were lucky to have friends pick them up for pool days. Friday, Stephen and I took the kids to Six Flags. It was so much fun aside from the heat. We are so excited to have season passes this year!
Saturday we went into the city to see Uncle Stephen's new loft. I'll have to take my camera up and get some pictures of his place. Very Urban, Very cool . . Richard had to remind me that we took a different path in life. Overall, summer is off to a good start! Here are some Sunday pictures:

Moving on . . .

Yeah! We have completed 4th and 1st grade! I am so proud of the girls for how much they have grown this year.

Last day getting on the bus. Cardyn wrote her bus driver the cutest letter, I wish I would have taken a picture of it.
