Callaway

We had such a blast at Callaway Gardens this year with the Hank's and Pulsiphers. This is our second time to do this with them (we skipped last year). My kids were saying on the way down that this was a "tradition" we do. We'll have to make sure we keep it one. Callaway is so beautiful, but the best part is walking the trails with good friends and being with our kids who just run and play and be kids. Jacque, Jenn and I just got released from the YW Presidency in our ward and after serving together you almost become like sisters. I really love them! The pictures from here make me laugh looking at them again. Porter was obsessed with the mulch wherever we went. At one point I was so busy taking pictures I didn't notice him throwing it in this fountain. When I saw what he had done I hurried the kids on to the next attraction. Luke and Ty lamented that they were the only boys (Porter doesn't count yet), but deep down with all the attention they got from the girls I think they really loved it.

Winter Break

The kids have had the past week off from school for Winter Break. This school vacay always sneaks up on me and we never seem to go out of town for it. It feels like we are just around the corner from our beach trip, I guess. In an effort to have some fun, the girls have had a play date / sleep over every day and night this week. They got together with some school friends that they hadn't played with in a while and just hung out. They spent a lot of time down at the creek by our house and every night I'd have a pile of beach towels in the wash. If dirty kids were a measure of a good time, then I would say it was a winner!

Green Smoothies

In my effort to get more vegetables in our diet, and by "our" I mean me and the kids, 'cause Richard is a lost cause- I have started making green smoothies. I remember watching this mom from Utah on Wife Swap years ago who was really into them, so I Google'd her. As it turns out, she has a whole website and program to teach people about green smoothies and health in general. I haven't bought her program, but from her website and blog I have learned some cool things. She is also very into coconut oil, so I like her even more! I sweeten the kids a bit more than mine and so far Porter won't touch them, but hopefully we can convert him.

Bike Talk

On the way to school the other day I overheard Savannah and Cardyn talking about Daddy's motorcycle.
Savannah: "You know Dad has actually taken me on the real street."
( I'm guessing this means out of the neighborhood)
Cardyn: "I wish he could drive me to Florida on his bike"
Savannnah: "That would be cool."
Cardyn: "Well, that would be a lot of leaning."

Class Parties

Porter and I got to visit the girls in their classrooms for their traditional Valentine's Day ice cream sundaes. They had a lot of fun exchanging their Valentine's and I got a kick out of the 1st grade kids trying to figure out who gave them what and hearing the boys ask the girls why they put "love" on theirs. One of the boys in Cardyn's class said, "Whoa . .Cardyn is holding a giant sucker!" Savannah's teacher gave them a "no homework" valentine for a pass on a homework assignment. She thought that was pretty sweet. Both the girls were so cute with their brother. He gets lots of attention at school. When we walked in one of the upper grade girls I didn't even recognize yelled out "Hi Porter!"

We ended our Valentine's Day with a 2 hour game of Life which resulted in Cardyn crying, Richard telling us the reason this game is called life is because before it's over you either want to take yours or someone else's. I told the kids don't ask me to play another game with them for at least 3 months. So, even though I'd like to say wonderful things about our "LOVE,ly" holiday for our family history, I must keep it real. I am so glad that the food/candy holidays are over. Now it is time to get ready to look {decent} for the beach.

Bieber Fever

After being sick all week I thought it would be fun for the girls and I to hit the matinee and catch opening day of Never Say Never. It was just what we needed! We loved it - except Porter slept on me, which is usually good . . except for that it was because he isn't feeling good still. We came home ready to dance and sing the night away to Justin Bieber, but, of course we had to face the ridicule of Richard who made fun of us, Justin, and changed our music to Third Eye Blind. Party Pooper.




Richard will be glad to see his son's reaction right after the movie.
